About 20 km to the south the German-speaking area ends and Italy really begins in earnest. You will quickly notice the difference. There is a different architecture, different customs, a different pace. If you are on holiday in Montan, Auer or Neumarkt, it is definitely worthwhile making a trip there. It is only 90 km to Riva del Garda, 130 km to Juliet's House in Verona. Venice, with its lagoon, is only 190 km away. There are also other charming destinations such as Milan, Tuscany or Piedmont that are only a day-trip away.
