Climatically autumn is part of summer here. The days slowly become shorter. It is harvest time in South Tyrol and one of the most beautiful times of the year. World-wide famous South Tyrol quality products such as Speck, apples and other fruits, Schüttelbrot, (a kind of local crispy and crunchy bread), cheese and different kinds of grappas, are served at Törggelen, (roasted chestnut and wine tasting).
And of course South Tyrolean wine! There are 25 different types of grape grown in only 5,000 hectares of land producing a quality that has caused a sensation for a long time. Last year Italy's 'Gambero Rosso', a gourmet and wine guide, listed 18 South Tyrol wines with the coveted 'three glasses' symbol.
